What brings “real joy?”
A survey was taken to find out what makes people really happy. The top four answers were:
A little child building sand castles.
An artist or craftsman after their painting or work is done.
A mother bathing her baby after a busy day
A doctor who has finished a difficult and dangerous operation that saved a human life.
Amazingly, no one mentioned the wealthy, prosperous or famous as being the happiest people. Those who are truly happy are busy doing, building, writing or planting instead of striving to reach a goal.
True happiness comes from just living out each 24-hour day to the fullest-taking advantage of every opportunity and living as though each day could be the last.
Psalms 128:2 When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be “happy” and it shall be well with you.”
A song we used to sing as children: Joy is the flag flown high over the castle of my heart signifying “the King is in residence here.”
Father, thank You for genuine joy that does not depend on circumstances but comes from having a relationship with Your Son Jesus Christ. Give me the words that I can speak life and hope into others so they will likewise experience this same joy. Amen
Blessings for a wonderful weekend,
